On December 14th, 2007, the 1st Meeting of the Standing Committee of the CBA Foreign Bank Working Committee was held in Beijing. Nine Standing Committee Members attended the meeting, including HSBC Bank (China) Company Limited, DBS Bank (China) Ltd., Bank of East Asia (China) Limited, Standard Chartered Bank (China) Limited, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (China), Ltd., Mizuho Corporate Bank (China), Ltd., Hang Seng Bank (China) Ltd., First Sino Bank and Xiamen International Bank. The meeting was chaired by Richard Yorke, Director of the CBA Foreign Bank Working Committee, and President and CEO of HSBC Bank (China) Company Limited.

The agenda focused on the Working Plan for the year of 2008. After rounds of discussion, consensus has been made among all the Standing Committee Members on the time and frequency of holding the regular Standing Committee Meetings of CBA Foreign Bank Working Committee, the necessity of holding regular forums with the regulators, and taking full advantage of each member banks¡¯ expertise and resources to contribute to the four seminars to be held in 2008 specialized in Basel II, IAS, anti-money laundering and CSR of financial institutions respectively.

 Mr. Richard Yorke summarized the meeting, pointing out the importance of communication in the ever-changing financial environment of China and hoped the Working Committee would continue to improve its work and play a more and more significant role in the future.
