The 1st Meeting between Regulatory Bodies and Members of the CBA Foreign Bank Working Committee Held in Beijing
 

On December 14th, 2007, the 1st meeting between regulatory bodies and members of the CBA Foreign Bank Working Committee was held in Beijing. Attendees included officials from NDRC, PBOC, CBRC and SAFE, delegates from the members of the CBA Foreign Bank Working Committee, and three non-member banks as observers. Mr. Yang Zaiping, Executive VP of CBA, delivered a speech during the meeting. Ms. Feng Hong, Deputy Secretary-General of CBA presided over the meeting.

The attending delegates from each foreign bank reported their business development highlights. During the subsequent exchanges, a thorough discussion was conducted with regard to the quota of the short-term foreign debt, green-credit policy, bankcard issuance, etc.

Mr. Yang Zaiping briefed the participating officials on basic information about CBA and the CBA Foreign Bank Working Committee. He also pointed out it was the first time for CBA organizing such an event jointly attended by regulators and foreign banks, which had helped to enhance the CBA¡¯s role as the proposal maker to policy makers, information disseminator, market coordinator, dispute settler, serve provider to its memebers and organizer of specialized work. Going forward, CBA will hold this kind of meeting regularly.

The attendees all agreed that the meeting was a complete success and it had provided the banks and the regulatory bodies with a platform enabling the two sides to discuss issues of common concern in a constructive way. The attendees also extended thanks to CBA for organizing this event on a regular basis in future.
