The sixth General Assembly of CBA was held in Beijing on February 9, 2007. Chairman Liu Mingkang of CBRC gave a speech during the conference which over 100 representatives from CBA members, associate members and foreign bank corporate bodies attended. The conference, hosted by Liu Zhangjun, Executive Vice President of CBA, elected the fourth Executive Board, Standing Executive Board and the second Board of Supervisors. Jiang Chaoliang, Chairman of Bank of Communications, was elected President of the Association, Xiao Gang, Chairman of Bank of China, was elected Chairman of the Board of Supervisors.

Chairman Liu Mingkang expressed his congratulations to the newly-elected Executive Board and the Board of Supervisors. He pointed out that, with the aim at serving the common interests of its members, the Association shall play a bridging role and work effectively in fields including self-regulation, protection of the interests of members, certification program for banking professionals, information exchange platform and international communication and cooperation.
Liu also said that work of the Association is indispensable to the reforms and development of the banking industry. He required guidance and supervision of banking supervisory bodies at various levels and their supports in the work of the Association in order to promote the healthy development of the banking industry and the enhancement of its competence.
Guo Shuqing, President of the third Executive Board made a report on the work of the third Executive Board. He mentioned that with the guidance and supervision of CBRC and the Ministry of Civil Affairs, as well as the supports of its members, China Banking Association has made great progress in safeguarding the market order, protecting interests of the industry, improving the quality of banking professionals, and improving the services provided to its members.
The Conference also approved of the report on the work of the third Executive Board and other proposals.
