The Joint Meeting of Banking Associations in China was held in Yin Long Yuan Hotel in Beijing on February 10, 2007. Hu Huaibang, Commissioner of Discipline Inspection of CBRC, and Wang Wen, Director of NGO Administration Bureau of the Ministry of Civil Affairs made speeches on the meeting. The Joint Meeting, hosted by Guo Jing, Secretary-General of CBA, was participated by Liu Zhangjun, Executive Vice President of CBA, and executive vice presidents and secretary-generals of 37 banking associations from various provinces and municipalities.

In-depth discussions were made on the work of the associations in 2006 and their challenges faced in self-regulation, rights-protection, certification program, and information exchange. Representatives from the associations also exchanged their opinions and made suggestions on the construction of the associations, their communication with CBA, and approaches to best functioning.
Representatives believed that banking associations have achieved great progress under the guidance of supervisory bodies and civil affairs organs in 2006. They shall continue their strives to further improve the healthy and continuous development of the banking industry in 2007.
They also agreed that banking associations is an essential part of the banking regulation system. With their development space further expanded, banking associations shall play a more important role in the construction of a harmonious society and promotion of the reforms and healthy development of the industry..
