China International Banking Convention 2006 Held in Beijing
 

 

    China International Banking Convention 2006 co-hosted by CBA and The Asian Banker was held on October 19 and 20 in the financial street. Attendants of the convention chaired by Mr. Liu Zhangjun, Executive Vice President of CBA included Mr. Shen Liantao, chief consultant to CBRC and Mr. Guo Shuqing, President of CBA and Chairman of CCB.

    With the theme of ¡°creating an industry defined by innovation and competition¡±, the event covered three outstanding issues in the banking industry: financial stability and its influences on Chinese and Asian financial services; creating a risk management structure for banking operation; and transformational issues in banking businesses.

 

    The panel discussions of the event provided an excellent opportunity for conversations between Chinese and international experts. Foreign speakers of the event included Dr. Roger W. Ferguson, Jr., former governor and vice chairman of the U.S. Federal Reserve System, Sir George Mathewson, former chairman of the Royal Bank of Scotland, Mr. Thomas Bliley, former U.S. congressman, and Mr. Alastair Clark, advisor to the Governor of Bank of England.
